Come along for a walk around Bicentennial Park and learn out about our diverse native plants and animals, and the fantastic work done by local volunteers to conserve our local environment. Local experts will teach you about our fantastic biodiversity, and what you can do to help conserve it.

GANG-GANG COCKATOO AND INDIAN MYNA INFO EVENING
Queanbeyan Landcare is again hosting an information evening to update members and interested locals on the latest research and survey work to protect our native birds and other wildlife.
NATIONAL WATTLE DAY WALK
Join QPRC and Queanbeyan Landcare on a walk up Mount Jerrabomberra to celebrate World Wattle Day! Learn about our local wattle species, and the other native plants and animals in our local environment.
The walk will stay on a well-maintained gravel road of an easy grade uphill, and will be at a slow-moderate pace with regular stops. Please wear enclosed shoes and sun protection, and bring adequate water.
The meeting point for this walk is the Mount Jerrabomberra Carpark, Jerrabomberra Hill Road (off Halloran Drive).

WORKING BEE - OLD RIVERSIDE CEMETERY QUEANBEYAN
Working group at the Old Riverside Cemetery site off Erin Street Queanbeyan. A beautiful site that just needs a bit of weeding. Bring your own gloves, some tools available. Morning tea will be provided.

NATIONAL TREE DAY 2024
Barracks Creek Reserve will again be the site of a National Tree Day event planned by QPRC and Queanbeyan Landcare. Like last year, we will be planting along the eastern edge of Barracks Creek, in the area north of Barracks Creek Drive, across from the Barracks Flat Neighbourhood Park.

Fernleigh Park
Fernleigh Park Landcare Group will be working on weed control on Tuesday 9 July from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Please meet at Fernleigh Park Community Centre and bring some tools and your own PPE and water.
Friends of Mount Jerrabomberra and Stringybark Ridge
Friends of Mount Jerrabomberra and Stringybark Ridge (FOMJASR) will be working on controlling woody weeds this Sunday, 7 July from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Please meet at the locked gate near 15 Nicholli Loop Jerrabomberra. Tools and morning tea will be provided but please bring your own PPE and water.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - Environmental Networking Expo
QPRC are having a networking expo at Bicentennial Hall for World Environment Day. Local environmental groups, organisations and companies are invited to host a stall and network with other local groups. Members of the public are invited to attend and connect with local organisations.

Join Queanbeyan Landcare and QPRC for an educational walk around the Queanbeyan River. Learn about native plants and animals, local urban ecosystems, and the fantastic work done by Queanbeyan Landcare. If you’re lucky, we might see a platypus!
Please wear enclosed shoes and sun protection. A morning tea will be provided at the end of the walk.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY
We meet 9.30am at the Morisset Street low level Crossing on the Queanbeyan River. Queanbeyan Landcare has participated in every year of CUAD. As well as rubbish, this year we may also be collecting old tree guards and stakes from advanced trees and shrubs on the River.
WORKING BEE - Thorpe Avenue (Outdoor Classroom)
On the 23rd February we would welcome your assistance for weeding, planting more Carex and saying hello to the Water Dragon and perhaps the Platypus at the Outdoor Classroom off Thorpe Avenue. Meet near the river downstream of Glebe Park on Thorpe Avenue. Please bring gloves and tools if you have any although we always have a few extras.

WORKING BEE - Thorpe Avenue
We would welcome your help weeding along the river. Park on Thorpe Avenue and walk downstream from Glebe Park (towards the Suspension Bridge). The weeding here is easy but does require gloves. We have a few extra tools if needed and there is always time for a chat and some cake at the end.

The rain will bring on the weeds so we have planned a working bee to tackle whatever is emerging. We would welcome your assistance for mulching and weeding along the river down from Riverside Cemetery. Please bring gloves and tools if you have any although we always have a few extras.
WORKING BEE - Riverside near Dane Street
We will meet at 8.30am at the end of Dane Street and walk a short distance to the planting site. As well as planting we may look at caring for the trees that Council has planted and removing a few weeds. Please join us if you are able (there will be working groups on both weekdays and weekends in 2024), bring gloves and any useful tool although we will have a few extras available.
